Evernight

Author: Claudia Gray
Rating: 4 stars
Synopsis: (courtesy HarperTeen)

Bianca wants to escape.

She's been uprooted from her small hometown and enrolled at Evernight Academy, an eerie Gothic boarding school where the students are somehow too perfect: smart, sleek, and almost predatory. Bianca knows she doesn't fit in.

Then she meets Lucas. He's not the "Evernight type" either, and he likes it that way. Lucas ignores the rules, stands up to the snobs, and warns Bianca to be careful—even when it comes to caring about him.

"I couldn't stand it if they took it out on you," he tells Bianca, "and eventually they would."

But the connection between Bianca and Lucas can't be denied. Bianca will risk anything to be with Lucas, but dark secrets are fated to tear them apart . . . and to make Bianca question everything she's ever believed.

My Opinion: I enjoyed this book. It is the first book in a series. It started off a bit rocky for me. I found it a little harder to get into the book than usual but once I did I found myself really enjoying it. Initially, I was suspicious that this was just going to be another twilight rip-off but surprisingly this book held its own. It took a different take on the popular girl falls in love with the oh so sexy vampire because in this book without giving too much away the girl is the vampire. It was a good enjoyable read and I do recommend it. I am going to be reading the rest of the series and reviews will follow.

Shadow Kiss ( Vampire Academy book 3)

Author: Richelle Mead
Rating:5 stars
Synopsis: (courtesy of Wikipedia) Rose Hathaway knows it is forbidden to love another guardian. Her best friend Lissa - the last Dragomir princess - must always come first. Unfortunately, when it comes to gorgeous Dimitri Belikov, some rules are meant to be broken...But since making her first Strigoi kills, Rose hasn't been feeling right. Something dark has begun to grow in her mind, and ghostly shadows warn of a terrible evil drawing nearer to the Academy's iron gates. And now that Lissa and Rose's sworn enemy, Victor Dashkov, is on trial for his freedom, tensions in the Moroi world are higher than ever. Lying to Lissa about Dimitri is one thing, but suddenly there's way more than friendship at stake. The immortal undead are on the prowl, and they want vengeance for the lives that Rose has stolen. In a heart-stopping battle to rival her worst nightmares, Rose will have to choose between life, love, and the two people who matter most..
My Opinion: I LOVED this book!!! The ending was the most suspenseful of the books in the serves thus far. It was well written and well-paced, I could not put it down. I can't really get into the details of why I liked this book a lot without giving too much a way but it is a definite must read for VA fans.

Frostbite ( Vampire Academy book 2)

Author: Richelle Mead
Rating: 4.5 stars
Synopsis: (courtesy Wikipedia) As Rose Hathaway battles her way through her senior year at St Vladamir's Academy, she finds that she has one too many problems to deal with. Her older, sophisticated tutor, Dimitri Belikov is beginning to think she is immature and is interested in someone else, despite what happened between them when they were under the influence of Victor Dashkov's lust charm. Dimitri will try to have Rose treated like an adult so she can see and learn from what she was doing. Suddenly, a massive Strigoi attacks put St Vladamir's on high alert, and the Academy crawls with guardians, including the legendary and well respected Janine Hathaway - Rose's formidable, long-absent mother. Rose will have to work with Christian to help her against the strigoi. She will find out that killing the strigoi is harder than most people ever thought. Rose will also continue trying to get Dimitri to show her that he loves her like she loves him.

My opinion : I think this book was basically as good as the first book and even better in some spots. I am really enjoying this series, the sexual tension between Dimitri and Rose is heightened. The characters are growing in their own element. The story is about love, friendships and responsibilities. I highly recommend this series for those who like vampire fiction.

Vampire Academy

Author: Richelle Mead
Rating: 4.5 stars
Synopsis:

Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with an unbreakable bond to the earth's magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest and most dangerous vampires—the ones who never die and a clear target being the last of her line.

The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa's best friend, makes her a Dhampir, and a shadow-kissed one at that.

After two years of illicit freedom, Rose and Lissa are caught and dragged back to St. Vladimir's Academy, hidden in the deep forests of Montana. Rose will continue her Dhampir education. Lissa will go back to being Queen of the elite Moroi social scene. And both girls will resume breaking academy hearts.

My Opinion: I loved the book when I was done. While I read I felt it was a bit slow but it was necessary to build the world and introduce us to the characters. I am gonna throw it out there now, vampires are one of my favorite non-human beings to read about. Rose was kick-ass which is something I appreciate after reading twilight ( which I also really like but i think it could have been better). I have read the 3 other books in the series and I think if you stick it with the series only gets better.
